Day 21: 12/9/23 - Travel Day to KL!
Breakfast in our room from the local mart highlighted both how much more coffee I have had since coming to Asia, and also how wildly outclassed convenience stores in the US are by their Asian counterparts. Much more modest price point withstanding, the depth and breadth of selections (for liquids and solids) is staggering. That being said, we had coffee and some buns. An early Grab to the airport, followed by a lounge brunch, brought us to our shortest flight of the trip (thus far). We bought this while booking several shorter flights in this portion of the trip, but really should've sat down and realized that a 4-5 hour bus ride would've been perfectly acceptable. Though the 45 minute flight was not a bank-breaker, the 60 minute grab from the airport to our hotel punctuated how unnecessary the flight had been.
Prohibited items including a tape measure, for some reason. Upon review, I can't believe we got our travel forks through security! We'd be down to just spoons and a straw!
View from our 27th floor apartment!
The 3-4 hours saved from not bussing did allow us to do more exploring than we would have otherwise, and we enjoyed a walk through Petaling street market and the surrounding neighborhood on either side of a lovely vegan "soul food platter" at the Hungry Tapir.Â
We grabbed some groceries on our return, as this was the first place we were staying with a small kitchen! Not that we had aspirations of cooking, but we could enjoy a wider range of breakfasts in the room and also some local fruit.
Petaling Street market, where one could find (a knock off of) just about anything!
Our well-deserved dinner (and a cheeky cocktail)
