Day 24: 12/13/23 - Batu Caves and Petronas Towers

In our final full day in Kuala Lumpur, we had two of the largest tourist attractions left to see. Both prone to overcrowding, we decided to beat the majority of the crowds with an early ride out to Batu Caves. Originally prized for the guano to fertilize local farms, the caves have had a temple or shrine in them since 1890. Despite frankly underwhelming architecture compared to other temples we saw before (and since), the large statue guarding the steps up to a beautiful cave is worth the visit.

Pivoting from the divine to the ostentatious, we Grabbed directly to the KLCC Petronas towers from the Batu Caves. These marvelous hulks of modern architecture surprised us with their beauty up close. They also house an enormous mall, that felt like a little slice of America. We wandered, grabbed lunch, passed on seeing Wonka (which was a totally mutual decision, and not a case of me being a "buzzkill" at all :P), and enjoyed the surrounding park. As the afternoon came to a close, we headed back to pack for our last night in Malaysia, and watched some Brooklyn 99 as we did (RIP Andre Braugher).
