Day 11: 11/29/23 - Sweating through Singapore

After breakfast at the hotel, we walked the waterfront and the Singapore river in search of a river cruise. Our muggy walk was mistimed, as the river cruises didn't start until early afternoon, so we enjoyed our first lunch of the trip, having stuck to the large breakfast, activities all day, dinner structure. And can I say, despite it mainly being a way to sit under a giant fan and drink a beer, it was the most luxurious feeling lunch.

Having delayed sufficiently (beers were 2 for 1, its not our fault!) we enjoyed a river cruise, taking in the architecture and getting some history of this former British colony.

After a walk back in the humidity, a quick dip in the pool and the original Singapore Slings in Raffles' courtyard help us beat the heat.

We headed out to dinner just as the rain starts in earnest, hunting for chili and black pepper crab, some of Singapore's most famous dishes. Never having had crab in anything other than crab cakes before, it was...an experience. Delicious to be sure, but between the mess and the amount of work to scrounge what always felt like not enough of a bite, I'm not sure I would recommend it. Our rainy walk back washed away whatever the wet naps missed.

More than one way to stay cool with a Singapore Sling!
