Day 10: 11/28/23- Travel day to Singapore

Flying in...Style?

We woke early and having done our packing the previous night finished our takeaway (that's what they call takeout, I'm so worldly now) and caught a cab to the train station. An uneventful airport check in and lounge breakfast was followed up by what I wish I could I properly set up, but know no lead-in could do justice: we rode the Pikachu plane. This Scoot Airlines plane is not only painted with various Pokemon on its exterior, but plays a variation on the original Pokemon game theme song as you enter. Fight attendants wear lightly branded outfits, at first. By food service they come through the aisles wearing Pokemon hoodies. Make you look like a Pokemon hoodies. I was too in shock to take a picture. Google Snorlax hoodie.  In a year that I hope to be filled with experiencing cultures, cuisine, and natural beauty different from what I have ever seen before, I fear the Pikachu plane experience will mark among the most oft recalled.

Kaisaac used HM02 fly! (This is a Pokemon joke, but not funny enough to ask someone to explain it if you don't get it.)

You really need both photos to appreciate it's majesty.

Little India!

A smooth arrival into Changi international airport ended with us stepping into what I imagine will not be our last hot and muggy day of the trip. We arrived at the hotel, took our usual travel day crash/nap, and headed out for dinner. A nice walk into little India reminded us that we are in the month of Diwali! The shop-filled, bustling neighborhood was made even more lively by an outdoor festival we passed and amazing lights over the main road through. We spotted a restaurant with a line around the block that advertised a second location which we figured would be worth the walk and it over delivered in quality, quantity, and price point.

We Grab(bed) (Grab is the local rideshare app. Jokes always work better when explained) back and did some planning for the remainder of our time in Singapore before bed.

Diwali is the Hindu festival of lights. It has also been celebrated by Muslims and other religions in India for hundreds of years!
