Day 9: 11/27/23 - Kowloon!
View of Hong Kong from the Star ferry.
Some of these are prints of famous works, probably.
Despite slightly higher amounts of smog, we were determined to make the most of our first full day in Hong Kong. After a lovely breakfast buffet, we took the "Star" ferry across the harbor to Kowloon. We had been on Hong Kong island and after a short ride with great views of the harbor, arrived on the mainland. Our journey originally motivated by the view from the ferry and our afternoon tea reservation, we wandered along the water, open to what the city had to offer.
We stumbled upon the Hong Kong museum of Art, and enjoyed a short visit to a midsize museum. A traveling exhibit centered around Titian, an exhibit surrounding the trading of silks, and a artist power-couple exhibit were well worth the time spent.
As we explored the museum, we were informed that our tea reservation had been bumped from the original location of the lobby to the top floor, Chanel (yes that Chanel) having urgently needed the space for an event.
Having never so much as heard of high tea before this trip, I can't believe that these stacks aren't better publicized. What are we doing America.
After our second high tea in as many days, we ferried back across the harbor and crashed at the hotel, wary of overexertion before a travel day (high tea is hard work!). We packed and did some planning for our next destination (Singapore!) and had our first hotel room dinner of takeaway.
An...eclectic(?) group of historical figures at the restaurant we got takeaway from.
